Travis Kelce Likely Owes Wife Taylor Swift for His Hot Start to the Season, Andy Reid Says

Travis Kelce’s coach thinks Taylor Swift might be the secret to his hot start this season.

The tight end, 36, is playing in his 14th season with the Kansas City Chiefs and after two games, with Swift cheering him on alongside their families, he’s looked like the vintage Kelce that won three Super Bowls.

During an interview with KSHB News reporter Matt Foster on Monday, Sept. 21, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised Kelce’s performance thus far and suggested that the pop icon may be to thank.

“Listen, Trav worked his tail off,” Reid said, complimenting “the amount of work he put in” over the offseason. “He likes his surrounding cast too, which sure helps as just an extra challenge there to make sure that you’re up there and competing and doing your part — and he takes a lot of pride in that,” Reid continued.

The head coach, one of many NFL personalities in attendance for the couple’s July 3 wedding ceremony, said he heard the skeptics who “questioned with the wedding and all that [Kelce] he’d be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time.”

“But he works his rear end off, and I think Taylor, you know, you’re putting on four-hour shows, you’ve got to work hard too,” said Reid.

Kelce’s head coach quipped, “I’m sure she kicks him in the butt a little bit there too.”

Swift was beaming as Kelce scored his first touchdown of the season on Sunday, Sept. 20 in the Chiefs’ thrilling 33-30 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts. The newlywed athlete also set the NFL record for the most yards after catch during Sunday’s game.

As Kelce scored against Indianapolis, Swift, wearing a $40 Chiefs tank from her pal Erin Andrews’ line, was seen jumping out of her seat and excitedly pointing to her wedding ring as her husband ran the ball into the end zone for a Chiefs touchdown.

She appeared to yell, “That’s my husband!,” according to clips on social media.

The week before, Swift chatted with Tom Cruise in her suite at Arrowhead Stadium alongside her dad, Scott Swift, her mother-in-law, Donna Kelce, and mother Andrea Swift.
